“Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker”(Psalms 95:6).
I believe worship is our first priority here on earth. In Matthew 22:36-38 a Pharisee asked Jesus, “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment.”
If that’s not worship, I don’t know what is! Worship plays an integral part in our walk with God, and we should spend time each day in adoration of our Father in heaven.
God desires that we worship him “in spirit and in truth” (Luke 4:24). True worship exceeds any hollow act of homage for it overflows from our innermost being–our heart, our soul, our mind. Through worship we can enter into the Lord’s presence, lavishing our affections on him and expressing a heart of gratitude and thankfulness toward the Giver of life.
There are times when I am worshipping God that I feel so much peace in who I am. All of my fears turn to tears of joy when I worship my Deliverer, my Shield, my Strength, my Father.
God pours out his wisdom when we worship him. God pours out his peace when we worship him. God pours out himself when we worship him.
When we worship God, we are filled with his attributes, his character. We experience his wisdom and peace. We experience God.
“How can I worship God?” you may ask.
- You can sing to him. You can shout to him.
- You can dance for him. You can pray to him.
- You can lift your hands to him. You can bow before him.
- You can praise him. You can honor him.
- You can love him.
Experience God today. One moment in his presence can transform your life forever.
Prayer: Father, I desire to worship you more. Forgive me for not obeying the greatest commandment of all–to worship you with all my heart, all my soul and all my mind. Allow me to experience your transforming presence that comes from worshipping you.
