Last week, as we wrapped up our “Freedom from Fear” series, I asked God to show me the topic for our next series. Â Immediately, my mind started searching for ideas, but I was interrupted by that still, small whisper, “Why don’t you share with them just how much I love them?”
Immediately, 1 John 4:18 came to mind: “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
Our most powerful weapon against fear is the Love of God. Â The more we learn about how much God loves us and become immersed in his unconditional love, the more freedom and peace we will experience in our lives.
The key is not just to learn about God’s love for us, although that’s helpful. Â Rather, we must experience and receive God’s love. Â When we do that, fear will have no hold on us, and God’s peace that passes all understanding will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
As we spend the next few weeks learning about how much God loves us, I would encourage you to pray a simple prayer:
Father, show me just how much you really love me. Â Immerse me into your vast and unconditional love through Jesus Christ. Â Teach me and show me the depth of your love.
Also, I want to hear from you about your experience with God’s love. Â I haven’t mapped out each message yet, so I want to hear from you. Â Tell me about your experience with God’s love–both good and bad. Â Send me an email, post a message on our blog, or share a comment on Facebook. I want to hear from you.
